![]() ![]() The paradigm is shifting from punishment and blame to a deeper commitment to understanding and healing the underlying causes of aberrant behavior. This movement asks not what is wrong with our youth, but rather what has happened to them. A movement is rising, one that sees aberrant behavior in children as a symptom rather than a moral failing. “There are doctors, researchers, teachers, nurses, social workers and law enforcement officers that are turning the tide against the cycle of trauma and abuse. Paper Tigers depicts the dramatic transformation in troubled teens when the staff at their school incorporates the findings from the ACE Studies into their education and support services. They are all still lame but I guess they had their funny moments.Welcome to our Paper Tigers resource page, were you’ll find links to download and print the handouts you saw as samples while attending a screening of Paper Tigers sponsored by the Prevent Child Abuse America chapter in your state. I just don't see any real transformation by the end of the movie. The movie spends significant time showing the audience over and over and over how awful these guys are at life and fighting, They toss away the skilled teens and mega-skilled adult fighter friend because they are all still funny a-holes that need to go at it alone.Īnd the kid! Totally ignored by his dad, told to lie (again with the lameness, we get it), and given up by father in trade for a 2 minute midnight talk. The main antagonist is introduced late into the movie, has very few scenes, and has zero motivation nor a person paying him to kill people. Somehow (how?), word gets around that they found a killer that nobody expected nor believed exists and there's zero proof any of this happened, but let's just skip that part and have their minute of hero-ness and free food. The murderer is now paralyzed and can't speak but it's ok, the paramedics have been called and they will arrive to the building area and not find him dying in silence on a rooftop. The main tiger agrees and gets creamed for most of the fight then pulls out a time-slowing win out in the last 5 seconds. ![]() The two remaining guys think they can't call the cops on this "hitman without a contract" who uses a special gesture to kill people which leaves no evidence meaning they have to resort to another honorable challenge with a dishonorable murderer. That night, the most wrecked of the 3 tigers shows up alone and gets leveled. This 180lb dude then deadlifts 200lbs of his motorbike at arm's length and takes off. The dishonorable murderer tells them to meet him at the docks at night to have an honorable fight. They find a dude that can hit a bag really well and determine "there's our murderer!" Follow him, he death punches and they confront him with their zero skills. So they go to the gym and find the best fighter. Ok, it seems the NPCs and the audience are now in agreement: the tigers are abusive, disrespectful, washed up dudes. They go eat, are met with derision by the food server. At this point, the audience must be convinced these tigers are CLEARLY washed up and unfit to meet the challenges ahead and aren't doing anything to improve. The tigers demonstrate that they have made ZERO progress since reuniting. They meet up with Carter and he tosses them around so he can have dojo rights? Whatever. Are we supposed to forget that they are hunting down a murderer and these young kids are connected to their master and are on their fighting level? Yep! Good bye allies but the plot inched laterally. The teens become their allies, give them scant info, and are immediately ejected from the film. Ok, it's established now that they are rusty. We see a scene at a drained pool with teens where the tigers barely made it out. Again, why should I care about these abusive, disrespectful kids? I say supposed because everyone else besides Carter, the kid they mercilessly abused as young fighters, suggests otherwise. They add 20 years to their life and are brought together to sleuth the supposed death of their fallen master. What? So, no honor and no respect, huh? Why should I care about these knuckleheads? Next, they win entry into a tourney in Japan, then ghost the tourney, then come home and ghost their master. Pretty must immediately they go out for beimo and commit a ton of crime. The dragons take an oath as the mark is set on the wrist. The only thing he really shows the audience is his desire that the kids must fight with honor. Three kids were taught Kung Fu in a garage by an older, smoking kung fu master. ![]()
